FOR RELEASE
June 26, 2012
The second annual JumpHigh StayStrong Music Fest is a benefit fundraiser for 20-year old Lynnfield
resident, Dylan Rizzo who is recovering from a serious car accident that occurred on Dec. 28, 2010.
This festival and several other fundraisers are organized by the Dylan Rizzo Fund to raise money for
Rizzo's hospital and rehabilitation bills. Dylan is a DJ and he loves all genres of music, so bands from
Dylan's community as well as National Artists will come together to perform in an evening of rock and pop music on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 7:30 pm at Rain Nightclub, 665 Broadway, Malden, MA 02148.
In addition to a full night of music, there will also be a Rock N' Roll Celebrity Auction featuring donated items from music's finest artists. All proceeds from the concert and auction will benefit the Dylan Rizzo Fund, P.O. Box 896, Lynnfield, MA 01940.
This fundraising festival was named after a slogan Devyn Rizzo, Dylan's sister, came up with shortly after his accident. While Dylan was fighting for his life in ICU at Mass General Hospital, Devyn wanted to honor her brother with silicon bracelets to help the fundraising cause. She needed something to put on the bracelets that would portray who Dylan is. Dylan was a high jumper on his high school track team, which is where the term "Jump High" comes from, and while Dylan was recovering in ICU, his family would continually tell him to "Stay Strong". Devyn used "Jump High" on one side of the bracelet and "Stay Strong Dylan" on the other side of the bracelet. At that point, the slogan JumpHigh StayStrong was adopted by Dylan's family and friends. There could be no other name for a Music Festival in honor of Dylan Rizzo, it is a fitting tribute to a very determined young man, who is fighting very hard to jump as high as he can to recover from his terrible accident.
The Dylan Rizzo Fund is very pleased to announce some of the bands and artists that will donate their
time to this event:
ADEMA: The melodic hard rock band Adema was formed in Bakersfield, CA in 2000. They were signed to Arista Records, and released their debut record "Adema" in August 2001 and were considered by the music industry to be a test for hitmaker and Arista president Antonio (LA) Reid's ability to succeed outside of the R&B genre. Its two major singles, "Giving In" and "The Way You Like It," received significant airplay on rock radio. "That success led to a coveted main stage spot on Ozzfest and certified
gold record the following year. Adema released a six-song EP, Insomniac's Dream (single "Immortal"
written for the video game Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance), before unleashing their full-length follow-up, the Howard Benson-produced Unstable in 2003. The album was a success, but the collapse of Arista left the group without a major label home. Besides losing support from a major, the band also lost guitarist Mike Ransom and lead singer Mark Chavez, who left the band to pursue other interests. After sifting through numerous other aspiring crooners, the group settled on fellow guitarist Tim Fluckey to take over the lead vocal spot. After several indie labels and releases, this band is still touring and recording. They have new music coming out this summer, entitled, "Topple the Giants".
Their appearance at the JumpHigh StayStrong Music Fest 2 is significant to this fundraiser, as Adema
was Dylan Rizzo's first rock concert at 9 years old.
CAROLINE'S SPINE is a hard rock band that became known as a “melodic train wreck” throughout their career. They are best known for their first single "Sullivan" on their Hollywood Records debut "Monsoon" in 1998. Hollywood Records released 2 national records “Monsoon” and “Attention Please”. The first single “Sullivan” from Monsoon had significant success at radio’s R&R charts and Billboard. The band continued to tour on this record and were able to open for headliners such as KISS and Aerosmith. The success of “Sullivan” gave them the opportunity to perform for the troops on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. “Attention Please” hailed the band’s biggest success with the single “Nothing To Prove”, which hit the Top 10. Eventually the band left Hollywood Records and become a successful indie band. In 2008, the band reunited with manager, Sandy Rizzo, and put out their latest record “Work It Out”. “The Light Inside” was the single released in 2008, and it had respectable radio play on active rock stations. The band is still touring and will continue to write and record new material.
Their appearance at the JumpHigh StayStrong Music Fest 2 also has significance to this fundraiser, as
their first major label album "Monsoon" was Dylan's first "show and tell" project when he was in first
grade.
MISS JUDY'S FARM (Tribute to Rod Stewart): Miss Judy's Farm is the quintessential tribute to Rod Stewart and The Faces. With a faithful rendition of the early Rod Stewart years, this band provides an unrivalled stage show experience which looks, sounds and feels like the real thing.
ERIC GRAVA: A Lynnfield resident with a powerful voice and passion for performing, Eric Jon Grava
followed his musical aspirations and landed at Berklee College of Music. Grava has enraptured
audiences across the east coast - playing at such prominent venus as House of Blues and Showcase
Live at Gillette Stadium. Grava has remained humble as his career climbs to the stars and looks forward to what the future holds for him. He is working on a new project that will take the Pop world to new heights. Watch for this talented young artist to come out strong out of the box.
FIVE STAR LOSER: A heavy hitting modern rock outfit with pop punk influence, the band, best known for it's bombastic stage show is proving again & again why catchy hooky songs with an energetic stage performance is the way to a fan's heart. Opening for such bands as Sublime, Lit, Fuel, Maroon 5, Gilby Clark (GnR), Queen V, & The Vegas City Rockers, the band has already generated a small but loyal
following of loser fans. “5 Star Loser” are well on the less traveled path to success. The songs have hook
with an edge all their own & have been heard from the stages of various Hard Rock Cafe's around the
world to the Sunset Strip's Whiskey A Go-Go. With no plan's of slowing down, come early, you do not
